Chick-fil-A

POSITIONS: Business Growth Solutions Analyst, Sr Business Analyst, Sr Customer Experience Analyst, Customer Data Strategy Lead

In this role, I served as the primary liaison between IT and Marketing. As my career progressed, Marketing started to leverage me for strategic input and ideation. This was what ultimately led me into a passion for Marketing/Corporate Strategy and out of the IT profession altogether.

Web and Mobile Web

www.chick-fil-a.com – I managed Chick-fil-A’s flagship website from 2008 to 2015. This was inclusive of the Restaurant Locator platform, E-Commerce (apparel), Online Ordering, Kids Club, Share Your Story, Home Office Backstage Tours, Cow Appreciation Day, FAQs, and Social Media feeds

Roles: IT owner, Vendor Manager, Integration Design, UI/UX Consultation, Business Analyst, QA Testing, and Support

Online Ordering and Catering

Chick-fil-A Catering – I integrated and managed the online ordering and catering platform from 2009-2012

Roles: IT owner, Vendor Manager, Integration Design, UI/UX Consultation, Business Analyst, QA Testing, and Support

Reservation Systems

Get Spicy Chicken – I helped ideate and ultimately manage the website for spicy chicken product giveaways, which was inclusive of www.getspicychicken.com and a backend reservation system from 2010 to 2012. We also continued to run this platform for Daddy-Daughter Date Nights, Mother-Son Date Nights, and Backstage Tours.

Digital Offer Cards

Cow Calendar – I integrated a new digital coupon program with In-Restaurant POS terminals. I also coded offer pins and launched profile-less loyalty cards that would store and redeem free offers from 2012 – 2014. This was later used for “Be Our Guest” cards and ultimately grew to be the backend for a broader loyalty program.

Roles: IT Owner, Integration, Data Management, Configuration, Vendor Manager, Business Analyst, QA, and Support

Mobile App

Chick-fil-A One – I tied siloed Customer data profiles and user experiences together to create a universal single view of the consumer across all digital platforms. In this capacity, I the developed data and personalization strategy, security protocols, fraud metrics, and consumer account management experience through our app, web, email, and text platforms from 2014 – 2016.

Coca-Cola

POSITIONS: Director of Digital & Payments Platforms (Commercial Leadership), Digital Director (NFSOP)

In these roles, I grew to be a digital marketer that led teams responsible for identifying new ways to connect Coca-Cola to Customers and (ultimately) Consumers. Leveraging my background in technology platforms, I would work with my team to create marketing and incentive programs that could increase beverage incidence and foot traffic while reducing operational costs for Coca-Cola Restaurant customers.

Mobile Wallet, NFC, Beacons, and Loyalty

Coca-Cola VendPass – A fully automated loyalty and offer redemption platform that allows Consumers who pay with a mobile wallet to track vending purchases and even redeem free beverage offers directly from a Vending Machine. This program was run from 2016-2020 and was installed in over 84,000 vending machines.

Roles: Primary Stakeholder, Team Leader, Vendor Manager, UI/UX

Peer to Peer Gifting and E-Commerce

Share A Vend – Expanding on VendPass, I designed a Peer-to-Peer gifting program that allowed consumers to buy drink credits from Coca-Cola’s e-commerce platform (shareacoke.com) and send them directly to a friend’s mobile wallet via text and/or email invitation. This program was run from 2017-2020.

Roles: Primary Stakeholder, Team Leader, Vendor Manager, UI/UX

B-2-B-2-C Platform and SaaS

Deal Rover – Deal Rover connected small “mom and pop” Coca-Cola customers to a wider network of Coca-Cola consumers by allowing them to manage their own offers and compete for offer rankings against other businesses in their area. Consumers simply would download the app and turn on location services to view available offers in their area, all in real time. Deal Rover was piloted in 3 markets from 2017-2018 but did not receive approval from bottlers for commercial expansion.

Roles: Primary Stakeholder, Agile Team Leader, Vendor Manager, UI/UX, Pilot Manager, Budget/PL

Digital Signage

Neko Digital Menu Board System (2 patents pending) – My team developed a proprietary low-cost digital signage solution for mom and pop Coca-Cola food services customers. By leveraging their own mobile device, restaurant owners could simply log into the app and update their menu, pricing, offers, photography, and video in real time. The mobile app was integrated with a native app installed on low-cost Chromecast devices which were plugged into the back of HDMI-enabled TVs/monitors. If a business owner wanted to add a new item to their menu, they could simply enter the item description and take a picture with their phone. A simple press of the “save” button would load the new item within seconds. The platform also had AI which would auto sort and organize the items on the board for the owner so it could maximize the space on their screens. This removed the headache from business owners having to worry about design and layout of their menu boards. Although we had success in Chicago, Atlanta, and Tampa from 2018-2019, the project was ultimately shelved due to COVID-19 closures.

Roles: Ideation, Primary Stakeholder, Agile Team Leader, Vendor Manager, UI/UX, Pilot Manager, Budget/PL

Quoted: “For 133 years, Coca-Cola has been focused on adding value beyond the beverage for our customers,” says Billy Koehler, director of Digital & Payment Platforms for National Foodservice & On-Premise Marketing at Coca-Cola North America. “Decades ago, we provided customers with value-adds like Coca-Cola-branded cash registers and static Coca-Cola signage. In the 21st century, combining our expertise in foodservice and digital to offer tangible technology solutions provides the most value for our restaurant partners who always welcome an edge to increase their revenue. The marketplace is just one example of the digital solutions we’ll be rolling out for customers in the months to come.”

Playbooks and Activation Guides

Digital Toolkits – I managed a team member who was responsible for developing best-in-class playbooks and toolkits that would help our Customers better understand how to win in a digital economy. Subjects included 3rd Party Delivery, Digital Ordering, Loyalty, Location-Based Marketing, Social Media, SEO, Website Best Practices, Mobile App Best Practices, and Digital Signage.

Roles: Primary Stakeholder, Team Leader, Budget/PL

Consultation

SME (Subject Matter Expert) Engagements – Although it was not part of my team’s “budgeted work”, the nature of our expertise and the digitization of the food service industry led us into many consultation arrangements with top customers. Several times per month, my team would present digital trends decks (which we built the content for), conduct design thinking workshops (which one of our team members created the materials for), or hold an open Q&A forum for C-suite executives to better understand the digitization of the food service industry. Almost all of these engagements would result in hands-on consultation with product and/or project teams to help them get “un-stuck” on a particular initiative. In addition to Customer SME engagements, I also was leveraged by PR for quotes in industry publications and delivered a key note at the MURTEC executive conference in 2018.
